Project Inspiration: The Nautical Nursery

Nurseries have come a long way, folks! Gone are the days of strictly pastel, gender-specific rooms (although, we still love them when done right), making way for stylish spaces reflective of the parents-to-be. We couldn’t have been more thrilled when a close friend and former client, expecting a baby boy, asked us to design an updated coastal space that was cohesive with the rest of her home. We have a few weeks before the project is underway, but take a look at some of the choices we made for the space:

Walls// Three neutral walls (in one of our favorites, Benjamin Moore Classic Gray) will serve as background to a Benjamin Moore Hale Navy grid wainscoting accent wall.

Furniture// Our client chose a simple white crib with Serena & Lily bedding (really, our favorite nursery source!) and a glider in a navy and white ticking fabric. We’re still in search of the perfect changing table! Our tip: pick a dresser that you love; you can securely attach a changing table pad to the top, and when the baby outgrows it, you have a piece of furniture that will grow with them!

Rugs & Curtains// We decided on a vintage distressed Ikat rug and went with a cotton chambray curtain on the windows.

Decor// The navy and white octopus print served as inspiration for a lot of this space! Trust us, we’ve seen plenty of cheesy coastal condo decor, and this piece is not that. We also found a sweet morse code print (which reads “You are so loved” swoon), and a ship’s wheel to bring the theme home.

We’ll be sure the share the final room with you!
